Going Bovine

Going Bovine by Libba Bray. This was a very strange book, but I’ll do my best to tell you my thoughts on it. First a summary: Cameron is your average high school boy, but he unexpectedly gets a disease (mad cow disease) and finds out he’s going to die. Then an angel arrives and tells him that there is a cure, but he has to go find it. He goes on a super long journey to find the cure and to  save the world, all with the help of a dwarf and a gnome.

So after reading this summary, you may be thinking “What the heck?” This book started out good, and it had a lot of funny parts too, but it became too long and too far fetched. Sometimes I really do think there’s a line that’s got to be drawn or it starts to go downhill…fast. This book also had a lot of bad language, so keep that in mind if you are thinking about reading this. I mean, you should never EVER make choices on what to read based off of my book reviews. I’m a very biased person, and sometimes I’m not very open minded about things. A lot of people obviously found this book good because it got a medal. So, by all means, if you like fantasy and crazy adventures this book just might be for you.

3 out of 5 stars.
